Good morning! This weekend is Labor Day long weekend and I thought it would be a great day to post all about our current living room design and decor we used in finishing this space!

This is the longest I have ever spent finishing a design for a living room we have lived in, and mainly that was because I was TIRED from moving so much and a little stumped with the floor layout of this room. It’s long and narrow with a very small entryway attached to it. We don’t use the entryway, so I wanted to utilize all the space we had and ended up flipping our sectional around to face where the entry would technically be. I also pulled the sectional forward quite a bit because the room was long, the tv felt so far away with the sectional pushed against that back wall and this way we had room to add in a small table.

We use the table for making crafts on, colouring at, and as additional seating when guests come over! I am all for following design rules, but sometimes you have to break the rules to make your space work for you family as was the case with this living room.

Because I keep most of our decor neutral I really wanted to add in extra texture with the decor and I ended up using two rugs to achieve that goal. The bottom is the perfect neutral jute area rug ( would be great for any room in the house) and the top is a woven wool rug with hints of light blue and green. Although it is “ technically” a coloured rug I still consider this a neutral and would put ANY and all colours with it! Think more blue grey then bright blue, and pairs well with both warm and cool tones.

The most recent update we made was installing these white floating shelves! I love them because they are simple and modern and can house all my house plants and little decor items!

Today is supposed to be 🌞🌞🌞 and I’ve go Today is supposed to be 🌞🌞🌞 and I’ve got my favourite iced coffee ready! I use the Costco Starbucks iced coffee, 2 pumps of homemade coconut syrup and a good splash of cream.
Homemade coconut syrup recipe:
2 cups water
2 cups sugar
2 tsp artificial coconut extract (I buy mine one Amazon)
Place all the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a boil. Once the sugar has dissolved remove from heat and let cool. That’s it! I store mine in an old glass torani syrup bottle and then I am able to just pump it in my coffee like a real life barista ⭐️
What’s your favourite way to drink iced coffee?!?
