Ship Target orders to Canada
I know many of you, like me, are still struggling with the aftermath of Target leaving Canada. Not only that but it seems like every Blogger, Influencer and content creator is finding the cutest stuff from Walmart.com that isn’t available online or in stores from Walmart.ca.
Well I finally got desperate and figure out a way to shop from both these amazing retailers (and any other American online shop that doesn’t ship to Canada) and … it really wasn’t that hard!
Check out my post below to find out how to easily shop from Target, Walmart.com and more from the comfort of your home in Canada.

Dreaming of Target?
I am still so sad that Target was pulled out of Canada even though it was many many years ago now. It was one of my favourite places to head over to grab a Starbucks and slowly peruse the isles, finding beautiful decor for our home.
Its wildly known in Canada that our affordable home decor options are minimal compared to our friends in the U.S. And on top of that most of our inspiration for decorating our homes comes from Social media and blogs that are predominantly Americans. It can get super discouraging to finally find the perfect item you’ve been looking for, only to realize its from Target or Walmart.com and not available for you.
I recently went on the hunt for some bedding for my daughters bedroom that we are doing a makeover on. I couldn’t find anything that fit my vision that wasn’t insanely expensive, until I ran across some adorable bedding from Joanna Gaines line Hearth and Hand on a blog. I was desperate so I started googling, “How to shop from Target in Canada” and I came across a great blog post sharing how to easily shop from Target in Canada and I was so excited!
Original blog post I read: TopKnotLiving.com
You need an American Shipping Address
First things first you need an American Shipping address to ship your Target or Walmart.com order to. I know a lot of people who live close to the border and actually have a box over the border at a U.S post office where they can ship items to, drive across the border, and pick them up. But for those of us who don’t live close to the border, we need another option.
There are many many many websites that offer American Mailboxes but I was always nervous about trying them. But after reading about how easy it was to use I decided to give it a try, Like I said, I was desperate hah.

I ended up going with crossborderpickups.ca. After sharing on Instagram I had a couple write in about alternative websites that they used but after researching them, crossborderpickups.ca was by far the cheapest when it came to shipping prices.
My husband and I make wooden decor products and ship them all over Canada and the U.S so I am well versed in the prices of shipping to the U.S., they are crazy expensive. But cross border gets a steep discount because they ship so many products and it really is an insane deal.
There is a section on the website where you can enter the approx. weight you think your package will be and the estimate is bang on. I have had nothing be more then the estimate.
Steps for shipping your Target order into Canada:
- Create account on Cross Borders for your instant American Address you can enter at checkout from target or Walmart.com
- Purchase your items on Target, trying if possible to consolidate all your items to ship at once, together, to save on Cross Border fees
- Wait for e-mail from Cross Borders letting you know your items have arrived.
- Follow steps provided by Cross Borders to fill out any needed info on what you ordered etc. (this is because your items are crossing the border and need to be clearly declared)
- Follow steps sent by Cross Borders to then ship the items on to your address. You will be charged a shipping fee, as well as a flat rate fee of $10 CAD per box that gets shipped from Cross borders and any applicable duties and taxes.
- Wait for items to arrive at your door and have a dance party!
What does is cost?
Of course the main thing I wanted to know was how much everything was going to cost me to ship my items from Target to my address in Canada. I have broken everything down for you and will share screen shots of exactly what I paid, so there will be no surprises.
First off shipping from both Target and Walmart.com within the U.S. is free. Since you will be using a U.S. address that Cross Border gives you when you sign up you will not have to pay any shipping fees to ship your items to Cross Borders.
The most important thing you want to be aware of is that Cross Borders will charge you a flat fee of $10 CAD for every package that arrives. So if possible try to consolidate all your items to ship from the same place and once to help with that fee.
I ordered a quilt, pillow cover, and linen curtains from Target.

I paid $124.18 USD and it shipped from free to Cross Borders. Unfortunately my curtains were being shipped from a separate store than the bedding so I had to pay for two boxes equalling $20 CAD. Once your items arrive to crossborderpickups.ca you will be notified by e-mail with steps to ship your items on to your house address.
It should be noted that there are two locations that you can pick up your items from if you live near them. I think one is in Ontario and the other maybe Vancouver area but you can check this option out on their website.
You will need to enter some information on the website about the items you ordered and this will be where and applicable duties and taxes will be added to what Cross Borders will charge you. I did not have any extra duties charge to me, I think because the amount I spent was small, so all I needed to pay was the Cross Border flat rate fee per box, and then the shipping to ship the boxes on to me.

Reduced Shipping Fees
I was only charged $20.00 CAD mailing fees for BOTH my boxes. This is an AMAZING deal on shipping. As someone who ships a lot of packages I know that shipping boxes of this size for the average person would cost $40 per box or more depending on where you live. So this alone is an amazing deal, and out of all the websites I looked into, Cross Borders is the cheapest on shipping fees.
Total Spent
So in total all I spent was the $124. 18 USD (you can google the conversion rate or download a currency conversion app on your phone) + the $47.56 CAD. I always encourage people that though this seems like a lot, if Target were still here in Canada we would pay more than the conversion rate on each item anyways. So it helps to make it more palattable lol.
I hope this post encourages you that not only is it possible to shop from Target or Walmart.com when you live in Canada, its also totally safe and crazy easy to do so!
