Today I wanted to share with you 5 essential home decor ideas for creating a boho style in your home!
I would classify my home decor style as Modern Boho Farmhouse haha and that means I have a lot of decor styles going on throughout our home!
Even though my main decor style is bohemian I love traditional, modern and even a cottage farmhouse design and incorporate them often throughout our home.
Not everything has to be boho, to create a bohemian vibe in your home
It’s true, in fact I think the most beautifully designed boho homes use boho decor sparingly throughout their spaces, because when it comes to boho decor a little really does go a long way.
How to Creat a Boho Home
Boho style is all about mixing different patterns and textures together, in a fun and unexpected way. It relies heavily on quirky and whimsical elements to tie the bohemian style into your space!
5 Essential Home Decor Ideas for Your Boho Home
Boho inspired pillows
Plants, plants and more plants
Fun baskets for holding your plants
Quirky decor pieces
Mixing Wood and metal throughout your space
I love finding fun and interesting pillows to use in our bedrooms and living room. A boho inspired pillow to me, means lots of fringe, tassels or pom poms and texture. Another trend that is really popular right now are tie dye pillows. I have one in our living room and love the pop of color it adds to our space!
In order to achieve a boho style in your home you will need lots of plants. They don’t have to be real plants, they can easily be faux and there are a lot of great faux options on the market, but I am slowly incorporating real plants into our home and its quickly becoming not just a design element but a hobby for me!
You can bring in that boho style by using fun baskets to hold all your plants in. I love a large belly basket for holding floor plants, or textured baskets with pom poms and fringe for holding my little plants I showcase on a shelf. Baskets are a great alternative to just using plant pots and really drive home that boho style!
I love finding fun and quirky decor to add to my kitchen counters like my bunny cookie jar, or whimsical candle holders like my brass bunny ( I have a thing with bunnies) to my shelf designs. This is definitely my favourite way to bring in tons of fun boho style into our home.
Lastly I always mix a lot of wood and metal tones throughout our home whether it be layering different metal and wooden frames on our picture ledge or mixing them on my floating shelves in the living room. Layering wooden and metallic objects is a great boho styling trick!
