The best place to find budget friendly home decor is from Ikea. Ikea comes out with some of the most beautiful home decor and its always priced for every budget, which I love!
They know how to stay on trend and are always offering new pieces for every room and almost every design style. In today’s post I wanted to share with you my top 20 best things to buy from Ikea.
My favourite way to decorate is to incorporate both high and low priced items throughout our home. I find this gives a home a unique look unlike anyone else’s! Let’s dive into my favourite budget friendly items from Ikea.

20 Best Ikea Products
It’s true, I really do love me some Ikea! The thing about shopping at Ikea is that its similar to shopping at Winners, Homesense or even Garage Sale shopping. You have to really look for the best pieces that look high end and not cheap.
When shopping for Ikea home decor what I am not looking for is our home to scream ” this is all from Ikea”. I want a curated look throughout our home, and so I really hunt through items when I am at Ikea that will fit our design aesthetic and don’t necessarily look like they are from Ikea.
Not that the Ikea look is necessarily a bad thing. I also don’t want my home to look straight out of a Restoration Hardware catalogue and its incredibly high end furniture and decor. I am always trying to avoid a “catalogue” look and aspire to create a unique, cozy home, that still looks thoughtfully styled.
The Best Ikea Products.
In this post I will be sharing what I consider to be the best Ikea products. These are products we either use in our home or I have friends/family that have used and love them.
First I will share the items and shopping links for them and then we will go into what I love about each individual product and how/where I use it in our home!

Ikea Hemnes Dresser
#1 in my list of the best things to buy at Ikea would be the Hemnes dresser! We have three of these dressers in our home and two of them are over 7 years old now and still look brand new. They truly are just as good in quality and just as beautiful as any high end retailer.
I love the price point of these dressers because not only do they look fantastic as is, they also make a great blank Canva for customizing them to fit your room. We shared out Ombre Pink Hemnes Dresser Hack here. You can also search on pinterest for amazing Hemnes Dresser Hacks and people have come up with the best designs!

Ikea Lighting
Next on my list of top 20 items to buy at Ikea is their lighting! Lighting as we all know can cost an arm and a leg. But Ikea is somewhere most people don’t think to look for lighting because they assume it’s the same lighting Ikea has been selling for years.
I know when I think ikea lighting I think origami style floating lanterns and maybe some industrial large lamps but they have added so much more to their lighting section.
We have two woven pendant lights in our house and although they have been discontinued Ikea now has another beautiful woven light fixture. I also love love love their newest table lamp addition. It has a very mid century modern feel to it and the price point is amazing.
You also can’t go wrong with these gold ceiling lights. The would work perfect in a hallway, bathroom or as additional lighting over a kitchen sink etc.
Ikea Plant Pots
When it comes to my go to place for plant pots I always check out the selection online at Ikea first. This seems to be one of their most frequently updated sections and they always have plenty of trendy plant pots to choose from.
I have countless plant pots around our house from Ikea. I use them in our kitchen, on our fireplace mantel and on our floating shelves in the living room.
I am loving these two new options from Ikea. The green is just so pretty and fresh and I always love anything resembling milk glass like this one.
Floating Lack Ikea Shelf
If you have wondered where our floating shelves are that we share in our living room on Instagram and here on the blog then wonder no more.
All though my floating shelf photos have been stolen endless times on Pinterest with companies claiming that we used their floating shelves, we did not. They are just the simple white lack shelf from ikea in 48″ length and we love them!
If you are going to purchase these make sure you check out Jade’s post on how to properly hang them so they are secure and don’t bend or fall down. You can also check out my post on how to style your floating shelves perfectly every time!

Baskets from Ikea
Another item I always look for on Ikea are baskets! We have their belly baskets all over our house. I love these for using as plant pots, though of course I always leave the plant in an actual pot and just pop it into the basket.
They also have a really amazing large wicker basket that my sister uses in her powder room to store extra toilet paper for guests to be able to grab! I have also seen this basket used as the base of a coffee table with a big round wooden cookie placed on top! Genius!
Lastly I have two sets of these little round baskets. I use one in our bathroom and one in our laundry room for storing things like soap etc. I love them because they come with lids and look cute on a counter! Win Win.
Faux Plants From Ikea
Probably my most frequently asked question when it comes to the plants around our home is first are they real and second where did we get them!
Most of our plants are real and from Home Depot however I have quite a few faux plants and every single one of them is from Ikea. They are so realistic that my sister actually thought one was real and couldn’t get over it after inspecting it closely that it wasn’t!
Here are a few of my favourites as well as some silver dollar stems that I like to use in large vases. I also love this little glass plant mister and think it would be perfect not only for actually misting your plants but also as shelf decor when not in use!

Ikea Kitchen Finds!
Ikea has the BEST budget friendly dinnerware sets. In fact we have only ever had two sets off dinnerware since Jade and I got married and both were from Ikea.
Here is our current set and we love it. They also come in more color options if taupe isn’t your thing.
Another product we rave about is our farmhouse kitchen sink from Ikea. Farmhouse sinks are notorious for being incredibly expensive. But they add sooooo much character to a kitchen so I was so happy to find a cheaper option at Ikea.
My parents got the first Ikea farmhouse sink and did have some trouble with it cracking when it was installed. Ours is the newest edition and we have had zero problems with it. I think the reformatted it because so many people were having issues with the first one they came out with and now this one is much much better.
Lastly I have a bamboo serving bowl that I use in our home mainly as a decorative bowl on our coffee table. This one from ikea is the closest dupe I have ever come across for ours and the price is of course amazing! Can’t be beat.
and lastly…
Lastly I have four items that I actually haven’t tried or seen in anyones homes but I LOVE how they look.
First off this chair reminds me of all the cool mid century chairs but with that woven, almost cane like back and seat! I love it so much I seriously contemplated buying six for around our dinning table, but sadly all our dining chairs are still working fine so I couldn’t justify it haha.
I love Ikea garden boxes and although I don’t have this new one I have used similar garden boxes from them in the past and like them a lot. They are great for beginner gardeners who just want to grow some herbs or a few but flowers.
I lined mine with brown paper and then loaded them with dirt and planted my plants directly in them. You could also just pop some planters inside too if thats more your style.
Ikea curtains are always a good idea. We have had so many different Ikea curtains over the years so I wanted to make sure I included some in this post. I like the natural almost linen look of these ones. Ikea also has a great selection of blackout curtains if you need all the light blocked out of a room.
Peg boards are really trendy right now and I love the look of this one. I think it would be super cute in an entryway or kids room to hang on the wall and store all their stuff above a desk! It also comes in two other colors and has a ton of interchangeable hooks and baskets so you can customize it how you like.
